VSS was founded and headquartered in Mississippi in March of 1990 by two former IBM employees along with a small capital investment from a single individual, also a former IBM employee. In the first two years VSS focused primarily on consulting and continued to nurture its technical and application skills. Influenced by its consultative roots, VSS has always approached business in terms of exceeding our customer needs.
VSS became an IBM Business Partner early in its history. The VSS IBM relationship has been a mainstay for VSS as its primary hardware vendor. VSS is now one of the larger resellers in the US for IBM systems and software. VSS provides technical skills and resources to customers while maintaining a strategic focus on each company’s specific needs.
As VSS advanced, customer focused, end to end solution based services began to drive the business direction of the company. In the late 1990s, VSS developed industry-focused software solutions for the casino gaming (CMS) and healthcare industries (AccessPt.). Both CMS and AccessPt. evolved into independent entities and were later sold to Bally Gaming & Systems (CMS) and MEDSEEK (AccessPt.). The success of such innovative initiatives served as the launching pad for VSS solution-centric and application methodology.
VSS earned #359 ranking on the VAR 500 in 2002 and #316 ranking in 2010. In addition to this honor, VSS has been recognized with multiple IBM Beacon Award nominations, IBM Partner of the Year Awards, IBM Choice Awards and other distinctions. VSS is also represented on numerous advisory councils and boards throughout the industry.
In 2006 VSS was acquired by an investment company, Riverstone out of Richmond, Virginia. VSS grew its solution business during this period. In 2010, the former owners of VSS had the opportunity to acquire VSS back from Riverstone. This was the best, most strategic decision the Company has ever made. Today VSS has gained momentum as a nationally recognized solution provider with a certified team of sales and technical professionals who have the skills, product knowledge and commitment to help clients develop and implement the right solutions to solve their business needs. While VSS has maintained a strong east coast presence with its hardware business, the company is expanding sales nationally through its software solutions. VSS will continue to build a nationwide consulting, sales and services organization that provides best-of-breed technologies from across the full spectrum of information technology, including hardware, software, storage, networking and security.
